Description: Based upon a Chinese story, Chang E was the wife of a famous archer, Hou Yi. Hou Yi served the Emperor Yao. During a lunar eclipse, Hou Yi fired arrows into the sky, resulting in the return of the moon. He was given a cup with the 'Elixir of Life' as a reward by the goddess, Xi Wang Mu. Chang E seized and drank the elixir, escaping to the moon to rule as a goddess.
