Description : The 35th "Yokozuna" grand champion, Futabayama (1912-68). His 69 consecutive wins is a record still remains to be broken. After he retired the competition, he became the president of the sumo association and made great contributions to modernize the archaic sumo society. After some 80 years of absence, the Japan Sumo Association commissioned the making of traditional nishiki-e style woodblock printing to publisher Kyoto Hanga-in, artist Daimon, carver Kishima and printer Ito in 1985. These new Sumo Nishiki-e are sold in Ryogoku Kokugi-kan in Tokyo.
