Description : Artist: Tenrei Horiuchi 1903-1982 Title: Life of Holy Priest Nichiren - no43 From Minobu to Ikegami Date: 1957 - 1959 Publisher: Nichiren Seijin Goichidai Gafu Haifu Kai Medium: Woodblock print Width Item 15.0 inches = 38.0 cm Height Item 10.4 inches = 26.4 cm Width Mat 17.9 inches = 45.5 cm Height Mat 13.4 inches = 34.0 cm Notes: From "Nichiren Seijin Goichidai Ki Gafu" (Picture Album of the Life of Holy Priest Nichiren). Nichiren had stayed in Minobu for 9 years. His health was declining and he decided to take a rest in a warmer area. In 1282, he and his followers passed Mt. Fuji and arrived at Ikegami in Bushu province. This project of woodblock print version of Nichiren's life was started in 1957 and finished in 1959. The set of 46 prints was distributed to about 400 Nichiren School temples
