Description : Wednesday, 31 May 2006 A BEAUTIFULLY HAND PAINTED JAPANESE WATERCOLOR FROM THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY, PAINTED AND SIGNED IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER BY H. SAITO. PAINTED IN FINE DETAIL IN THE WESTERN STYLE OF WATERCOLORS. THE SCENE IS OF A YOUNG WOMAN IN TRADITIONAL KIMONO WALKING ACROSS A POND ON STONE STEPS. THE SCENE HAS BEAUTIFUL BLOSSOMING IRISES IN THE FOREGROUND PAINTED IN BEAUTIFUL DETAIL. THE REFLECTION OF THE SCENE IN THE WATER OF THE POND IS SO WONDERFULLY DONE. IN THE BACKGROUND IS A TRADITIONAL JAPANESE HOME OF THIS TIME. THERE IS A TAG FROM THE STORE THAT ORIGINALLY SOLD THE WATERCOLORS IN JAPAN, IT SAYS H. TAKEMURA & CO, 45 BENTENDORI, YOKOHAMA, JAPAN. THE PAINTING MEASURES 10" WIDE BY 14 5/8" TALL. THE PAINTING IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. HOWEVER, THE UNPAINTED BORDER AND THE BACK OF THE PAINTING HAS SOME MINOR SPOTS.
