Description : This print is authentic, not restrike or reproduction. I guarantee it. This is original Japanese woodblock print by rarely seen shin hanga female artist Uemura Shoen (1875-1949). In 1948 Uemura became the first Japanese woman to receive the "Order of Cultural Merit." This print “Female Ghost” from the series “Complete works of Chikamatsu”. Created c.1923. The series contains 12 prints (each done by a different artist). Delux printing with usage of “gofun” and “gold” metallic pigment. The print is not trimmed or setdown. Never been framed or mounted. Excellent impression, colors and registrations - pristine condition. Has artist’s seal and signature. Self published. As all prints in this series carved by Yamagishi Kazue and printed by Nishimura Kumakichi. Dai-oban 18 1/8" x 11".
