Description : Friday, 23 September 2005 Title Heroes of Suikoden first edition printing Artist Attributed to Toshimine Tsutsui 1863-1934 Signature Signature was read as "Toshimine" Dated 1884 Publisher Izawa Kikutaro Technique/Medium Woodblock print Impression excellent … (first edition printing) Colors excellent … burnishing, fine gradations Condition very good …lightly soiled, not backed. Left Sheet: red ink stains on the lower area, a pin size hole on the upper right on the sky. Middle Sheet: a pin size worm hole on the lower right. Right Seet: slight red ink specks, a pin size worm hole on the lower left. Description "Ryozanpaku no Fumoto ni Ryoketsu Yu wo Kisou" (Two Heroes battles at the foot of the Ryo-zan-paku Mountain) The two heroes from the Chinese popular novel, "Suikoden" (Shuihu zhuan) are battling against each other. Yang Zhi (Jp: Youshi, nicknamed as Seimen-ju which means blue-faced animal) on the left. Lin Chong (Jp: Rinchu, nicknamed as hyoshi-to which means the head of leopard). The group leader, Ohrin is seen on the boat on the background. Unlike most of the "action prints", this print is quite remarkable for its fine gradations in different colors on the snow and the careful printing.
