Description : Tuesday, 10 May 2005 A BEAUTIFULLY HAND PAINTED JAPANESE WATERCOLOR FROM THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY, PAINTED AND SIGNED IN THE LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER BY H. SAITO. PAINTED IN FINE DETAIL IN THE WESTERN STYLE OF WATERCOLORS. THE SCENE IS OF A BEAUTIFUL KIMONO CLAD WOMAN DOING A FLORAL ARRANGEMENT. IN THE FOREGROUND ARE STEP STONES THAT LEAD INTO THE GARDEN WHERE THERE IS A TREE SOME BLOSSOMING LILIES. THE DETAILING OF THE DWELLING, INNER AND OUTER GARDENS, STONE LANTERN, FLOWERS. OUTSIDE AND INSIDE OF THE ROOM AND INNER GARDEN IS VERY BEAUTIFULLY DONE. THE ARTIST HAS CAPTURED THE TRANQUIL BEAUTY OF PRE-WAR JAPAN. THE PAINTING MEASURES 10 1/8" WIDE BY 14 7/8" TALL. THE PAINTING IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, ALTHOUGH THE OFF WHITE EDGES SHOW SLIGHT DISCOLORATION.
