Description : Sunday, 10 September 2006 This rare, early 20th century, watercolor painting on paper, with its softly colored depiction of cherry blossoms in a Japanese park, was done by the listed Japanese painter, Shigesaburo Ishida, 1888-1960. The watercolor is signed by the artist in the lower right. The watercolor is in very good condition with good colors, but seems to have a 1" crease or tear extending from the bottom edge on the left side, and it has not been examined out of the frame. The watercolor is 13 1/4" x 19 1/2" and the frame is 14 1/4" x 20 1/2". It is housed in a custom, period, wood frame, which is in good condition with tight corners, but shows some wear. Works by this listed Japanese artist rarely come up for auction and this is one of the most attractive examples we have seen.
