Description: Asada Benji (麻田辨自1899 ? 1984, born as 中西辨次but often signing his name as 丹牛 or Tangyu on woodblock prints, who had won several prestigious awards and praises) was a highly skilled Japanese artist particularly known for his traditional woodblock prints of various sceneries, birds, and flowers published by Uchida [内田] firm during the 40s and 50s. His bird prints [like the current one] are often delicately done and are quite rare. This particular print depicted a Mallard duck [male] taking off from a lake with reeds [with light embossing].
