Description : Hiroshi Yoshida Jizuri Woodblock - "Ghat at Benares" On thick washi. Dated Showa 6 (1931) Paper size: 40.0cm (W) x 27.8cm (H) Image size: 37.5cm (W) x 24.6cm (H) This print is from the India an South-East Asia Series of Prints, painted by the Artist on his travels in 1930. Along with his various Alpine Print Series, this Series contains some of his finest and most popular work. This print is Numbered 153 in the ABE Catalogue Raisonne of Yoshida's work. [The above reference is a "must have" for any serious collector of Yoshida's work, and is available for purchase in the Reference Books section of our eBay Store]. This print is a particularly fine example of Yoshida's skill, and has been very well preserved down the years. The colours are still strong and even. The print has full margins. No foxing or toning. Excellent impression and registration; good bleedthrough to verso. The only flaw I can detect is a TINY paper remnant at the upper verso margin, halfway to the left margin. There is no damage to the print. I assume the remnant could be easily removed, though I have not tried. Black ink Jizuri seal at upper left margin. Signed Yoshida in Japanese in black sumi ink, with red Hiroshi seal inside the image at bottom right. Titled and signed in pencil, in English, by the Artist in the bottom margin.
