Description : This beautiful woodblock, "Snow and Pigeons" by Shiro Kasamatsu is a most arresting design,a bold and dramatic image yet conveying at the same time the softness and quiet of winter. A wonderful accent for any mid-century decor. The print is framed in nonreflective glass and measures about 14 1/2" x 19 3/4". Out of the frame it is about 11" x 16 1/2". I removed the print from the frame to show the marks, but of course there is also an impressed mark which doesn't show. The printing comes through the back of the paper nicely. The bottom right corner has a little cut which I understand is a "kento cut" to insure proper printing alignment. Later, same print: Title Snow and Wild Pigeons (first edition) Artist Shiro Kasamatsu 1898-1992 Signature Shiro Kawamatsu on the plate Seal artist's seal on the plate and embossed seal on the lower margin Dated 1958 Publisher Published by the artist Technique/Medium Woodblock print Impression excellent - very good ...
