Description : This is an genuine original Japanese woodblock print by great shin-hanga artist Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) titled "Nissaka on Tokaido ". The print is dated Showa 17 (1942). Some prints by Hasui offered now on ebay are later editions of much less quality (sometimes from recarved blocks). This edition published by Watanabe from original blocks between 1948-1956 by Hasui’s life ("lifetime" edition), and bears the Watanabe 6mm seal. One from the best Hasui’s rainy landscapes. Great impression, good color and registration. Signed by artist Hasui, has seal “Sui” in the image and titled in kanji at the left margin. Oban size 15 1/4" x 10 1/4".
