Description : Thursday, 25 August 2005 Rare Kakemono Kuchi-e: Bijin Ghost and Skull Artist: Tomioka Eisen Format: Nagaban tate-e: 14.25" x 9.5" approx Subject: The spirit of a departed young courtesan with a gorgeously decorated obi with the concealed representation of her murderer's face on the left. Her spirit emanates from a skull on the ground in the bottom left corner. A magnificent design with remarkable refinement of printing for a kuchi-e. Extremely rare. Date: c.1900's Condition: Full size. Two horizontal fold-marks. Soils, marks and flaws. Laid down on Japanese album backing paper. Generally moderate state. Colour: Fine Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage and burnishing in the hair
