Description : "Cat and Lantern". Cat chases a mouse, which tries to hide in a lantern. Its nose is sticking out from the left side of the lantern. This print was shown in 1886 at the First Japanese National Fine Arts Exhibition. The complexity of design and colors in this print required 37 separate color applications to capture the contrast between the dark green background and the light foreground.
