Description : Wednesday, 18 October 2006 Triptych: The Boys' Festival Artist: Chikanobu Format: Oban Triptych: each sheet: 14.5" x 9.75" Subject: An unusual Chikanobu triptych showing a giant paper Carp (a mark of the chonin city), used by commoners for the Boys' festival as a symbol of the military fukinagashi which they were prohibited from flying; above a group of boys being supervised in ritual combat. A representation of Shoki quelling a demon, on a flag stand bottom left. Date: 1885 Condition: Full size with large margins. Minor marks and flaws. Generally fine state.
