Description : Saturday, 2 July 2005 Kakemono-e: Standing Bijin Artist: Eisen Format: Vertical oban diptych: 29" x 9.75" overall Subject: An oiran dressed in her Spring finery, including a graded purple and green silk kimono represented by the stylish printing technique of bokashi (color block wiping to produce a graded effect). Her toes are curled and she rounds her shoulders in the sexually seductive stance, called ikki, which was the height of Edo chic in the early 1830's. Publisher: Sanoki (red seal) Date: early 1830's Condition: Virtually full size. The two sheets united. Paper a little toned. Thinning at right edge of top sheet, reinforced on verso. Minor damages, marks and flaws. Generally quite good state. Colour: Good with slight fading Impression: Fine matching impressions
