Fuji Signed: Toyokuni ga Publisher: Wakasa-ya Yoichi Censor's seal: kiwame Date: c. 1797 Size: oban pentaptych (c. 39 x 26. 5 cms / c. 15 3/8" x 10 3/8" each sheet) Impression: excellent Colors: very good Condition: very good / fine; full paper size, five separate sheets as issued (not glued together). Complete pentaptych. - Rare, particularly in such nice condition. Ref. The group is beautifully set against the impressive Mt. Fuji and its foothills in the background. This design probably is a 'mitate' (often facetious depictions featuring pastiche, allusion or parody) of a daimyo's procession.
