Description : Woodblock triptych print, oban tate-e. Scene outside a castle from the kabuki play 'Soga dochu sugoroku' entitled Picture of the Igagoe Revenge (Igagoe kataki-uchi no zu) showing the actors Tamejuro as Sakurai Rinzaemon fighting Ichikawa Kuzo as Ikezoe Magohachi (left); an unidentified actor as Koshiai Kanshiro who is fighting Nakamura Utaemon IV as Karaki Masaemon, who is also fighting Tomoemon as Sawai Matagoro, Takeuchi Funai (centre); and Sawai Matagoro fighting Matsumoto Kinsho as Wada Shizuma (right), also an unidentified actor as Takeuchi Dennai.
