Description : Great Tokaido Series: # 23 Ejiri Artist: Hiroshige I Format: Oban yoko-e: 9.5" x 14.5" Subject: A busy port in Hiroshige's time, Ejiri is now the bustling city of Shimizu, with a population of over a quarter of a million. In Hiroshige's design the sailingboats in the far distance are becalmed waitng for a breeze to carry them into the port. On the left hand-side rising from the sea is Mount Ashitaka. Publisher: Hoeido Date: c. 1834 Condition: Good colors. Trimmed on left margin with loss of Kiwame seal. Vertical centrefold. Wormage, largely repaired. Minor marks and flaws. Two mounting tapes at top edge on verso. Fair state of preservation. Impression: Good impression.
