Description : 絵の背景には、「義経千本桜」四の切で、源九郎狐の計略で、義経を夜討にしようとやってきた横川覚範の手下を返り討ちにする場面が描かれている。菊之丞の姿態などは、通常の狐忠信とはことなり、美人画的な媚態を思わせる表現である。
