Description : Sunday, 11 July 2010 Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print Visiting Kiyomizu Temple, 1856 Series; Twelve Months of Genji Visiting Kiyomizu Temple, 1856 - Beautiful triptych of Prince Genji and several beauties visiting Kiyomizu Temple, enjoying a stroll around the grounds. The prince crouches next to a palanquin at left, shielding his eyes with a fan as he watches a bird swoop across the sky above. In the center, a woman holds an umbrella overhead as a young attendant follows behind. The women are elegantly dressed in sumptuously patterned kimono, the white collars and trim embossed with a textured pattern. The wide verandah of the temple can be seen at left, nestled among the trees against a hilltop. A very attractive subject, beautifully colored with fine shading in the sky. Would make a lovely framed display. Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29 1/4" + margins as shown Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, not attached at the seams. Very slight creasing. Please see photos for details. Very nice overall.
