Description : Nov 2004: Hello Ross I am very grateful for your reply to my recent enquiry regarding the identification of a number of japanese prints that I have in my posession. Following your advice I have searched the internet and discovered a few interesting facts about creped prints and the different types of paper used in the process. I am however not quite clear as to why the process was applied to the originals which I presume were perfect clear prints on smooth hand made paper and of a larger size, but that I am sure is another story. Do they have any value as I cannot find any reference to creped prints in any auction catalogues? In my ignorance I now realise that I have made a serious error in wetting and stretching a number of these prints and although the results are relatively good it was obviously something I should not have done, however this was only applied to 4 or 5 prints as an experiment and I still have over 150 prints in the original condition. I have scanned 3 (triptych?) of these prints at 300dpi so that you can assess the quality and condition. I would welcome any advice or suggestions you may have and if you need any further information or some more examples please get back to me. Regards
