Description : Saturday, 16 June 2007 Pillar Print: Bijin on an Egawa Artist: Eisho Format: Hashira-e: 24.75" x 4.75" approx Subject: An elegant young bijin on the engawa of a house overloking the Sumida River and the torii of the Mimeguri Shrine. Considered to be Eisho's finest design in the pillar print format. For other examples see Pins, The Pillar Print, #891 page 315 and Riijksmuseum, The Age of Utamaro, page 81 #115. Rare. Date: 1795 Condition: Full size. Laid down. Two horizontal folds. Paper toned. Paper fractures and damages (repaired), notably above the head of the girl. Generally fair state for an 18th century print. Colour: Good Impression: Fine
