Description: The Crow Artist: Koson Format: O-tanzakuban tate-e: 14.5″ x 7.5″ Subject: A Jungle Crow (Corvus macrorhynchos) sits on a snow-covered branch with three Crows in flight behind. In Japan, the Crow is considered an auspicious bird, and it was depicted by a number of artists including Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891) and Watanabe Seitei (1851-1918). A tiny corner damage top and bottom left. Very minor marks. Generally fine state of preservation. Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage, strong woodgrain visible in the background and the big Crow printed in lacquer.
