A Glimpse Of Ueno Park
Artist: Yoshida Hiroshi
Name: A Glimpse Of Ueno Park
Date: Not set
Description: This is a genuine, original 1930s vintage Japanese woodblock by Hiroshi Yoshida. The title, “A Glimpse Of Ueno Park”, and the artist signature are signed in pencil. The woodblock bears the Jeruzi seal (self printed)in the upper left margin. The print measures 9 1/2″ x 14 3/4″ not including the margins on all sides. This estate item is unframed and shows some very slight aging and a few foxing spots on the front and back. There are also two tiny worm holes in the center and two pin holes in the upper and lower left border as depicted in the photos. The back has a small paper label afixed, perhaps a retailer in Japan. These pencil signed prints with the Jeruzi seal are the hardest Yoshida woodblocks to find. Most have printed signatures and were made after his death in 1950.
