This is an genuine original Japanese woodblock print by great shin-hanga artist Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) titled “Snow at Ginkakuji Temple “. The print is dated Showa 26 (1951). Some prints by Hasui offered now on ebay are later editions of much less quality (sometimes from recarved blocks) This one is first edition published by Watanabe in 1951, and bears the Watanabe 6mm seal. The print is not trimmed, has full margins. Great impression, good color and registration. Some toning from the mat. Signed by artist Hasui, has seal “Sui” in the image and titled in kanji at the left margin. Oban size 15 1/2″ x 10 1/2”.
