Description: Reflection of a mountain is the key motif in this print. Hasui’s reflection shows moves of water and light. Hokusai’s reflection (HAA#21955) is clear and still. Intersting aspect in Hokusai’s reflection is that reflection show snow-covered Mount Fuji, while the actual depiction of the mountain is not snow-covered. Hokusai is known to be an artist who enjoyed combining actual scene with his imagination. (from Nostalgic Japan exhibition, 6/8/05-) ALT TEXT Önuma Park is in southwestern Hokkaido within the Önuma Quasi-National Park. The lake was created when the Orito River was dammed by a volcanic eruption. In this print, the strangely shaped mountain and the reflection on the water create an attractive design. Many of Hasui’s landscapes give a sense of tranquility, created by blue sky and still water.
