Description: Friday, 29 September 2006 Japanese woodblock print, Hasui. Early prewar edition as evidenced by the rectangular Watanabe publisher’s seal in the lower righthand margin. The print dates from 1936; the title is Nigatsu Hall, Nara. It is pictured on page 453 of the Hotei catalog of Hasui prints. The print could use a good cleaning, as there is a mat line and some toning, as well as a bit of foxing in the image. Paper is supple, and I believe it will clean up well.
