Moon at Magome
Artist: Kawase Hasui
Name: Moon at Magome
Date: 1930
Source: Honolulu Museum of Art
Description: The shared motif is Moon shaded with pine tree branch. Hasui’s print focues on a close up image of tree and moon. Distinctive Hasui’s blue is favored by many people. Comared to Hokusai or Hiroshige’s prints, many of Hasui’s prints eliminate figures from scenes, which helps creating more pathetic and nostalgic atmosphere.
