It has been conjectured that this seal has been used for “yare” (misprints) that were primarily used as gifts. Watanabe states in his book that, although he has no further information about this seal, he cannot imagine that it was used for misprints as a publisher would rather use some of their “reserve” stock for gifts than any misprints. In fact this seal can be found on many Shinsui prints published by Watanabe and these were neither misprints nor gifts Impression: very good / good Colors: very good – , some discoloration in the lower right side Condition: very good – , some residues of tape on reverse, as well as some browning from backside Literature: T.
