Description: This is a beautiful original woodblock print by noted shin hanga master Kawase Hasui. The print depicts families strolling through an iris garden. It is oban size, about 14 1/2 x 9 1/2 plus full margins. Condition is good; there is a faint mat line, which you can barely see in the scan (and it’s very faint in person as well). Color and impression are very good. The print bears the small red 6mm Watanabe seal in the lower lefthand corner, indicating that this is a true first edition print (dating from 1951, after Watanabe stopped using seals in the margins). It is, in fact, one of Hasui’s last prints, number 542 out of 567 that he did.
