Description: Kawase Hasui 1883-1957. Studied with Kiyokata Kaburagi. One of the most prolific and best known artist of the New print movement amoung Western collectors. This print measure 9 1/2 X 14, original period frame measure 17 1/2 X 21″. Circa, 1920’s. Printed on genuine rice paper from cherry woodblock. Pencil signed and titled on matte, Twin Islands at Matashima, original print. Full margin, no tears, creases, stains or foxing. Circular seal on lower left. Matte has a stain on left side and age toning. Rear backing paper is brittle. Print is in near mint condition, matte is in decent condition.
