Paper size: 39.2cm (H) x 26.7cm (W) Image size: 36.2cm (H) x 24.2cm (W) Titled and dated Showa 15 (1940) in Japanese in left margin. Watanabe publisher’s “E” seal (1932-1942) in right margin. Hasui signature in black ink with red sui seal in lower right of image. Excellent registration and impression with very strong bleedthrough of pigment to the verso. It is quite amazing that an image dominated by brown colouration could be so full of depth and atmosphere. A most captivating image. The print has been extremely well kept down the years. It has never been set down. Has full margins. No foxing or toning whatsoever. The print looks amazingly fresh.
