Description: Sunday, 24 October 2010 Benkei Bridge in Snow by Kawase Hasui. Original Japanese woodblock print circa 1930s. This print is in pristine condition. It has never been framed and retains original colors. 8.0 x 6.0 inches. Strong texture and ink bleedthrough on fine washi. Red Hasui seal in lower right of image. Title in lower left of image. I cannot find this print documented in any source including “Kawase Hasui The complete Woodblock Prints”. Mrs. Shoichiro Watanabe tells me this print was made by Watanabe’s woodblock carvers and printers in the 1930s and is quite rare. Very beautiful.
