Description : Saturday, 8 September 2007 This is a very lovely watercolor by artist T. Tosuke. The colors are very subdued and tranquil. The overall dimensions in the frame are approx 18 1/2" wide x 14 1/4" tall. The watercolor portion that shows inside the mat is approx 12 1/2" wide x 8 1/4" tall. It has been professionally framed and matted and I haven't removed it from the frame, the back is sealed with the usual brown paper with the framers label (Pacific Picture Framers, Seattle). I don't know anything about art but did look at it closely through my loop and do not find any dots or marks that might indicate that it is a print repro as opposed to an original watercolor. The mat appears to have been made specifically to complicate the watercolor. There is a border around the picture that is color matched to the picture. The frame is a gold laquer with coordinating blue edging. It is signed by the artist, T. (not S.) Tosuke and there is an artist symbol below the signature. It is a bird of some kind in a circle, both in red. It does appear to me that the matting may be hiding a small portion of the picture, ie the top of the forefront boat's sail. As I have stated I don't know anything about the artist or the watercolor. I purchased it at an estate sale. I have done a little research and haven't been able to find much information.
