Description: This is an genuine original Japanese woodblock print by great shin-hanga artist Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) titled “Muroto Peninsula, Tosa (Tosa Muroto Zaki) “. It’s extremely rare print, published by Bijutsusha Publishers in Tokyo between 1928-1936. Some prints by Hasui offered now on ebay are later editions of much less quality (sometimes from recarved blocks). This one is the first prewar edition published by Bijutsusha, and bears appropriate publishers seal on the bottom of right margin . Extremely rare preware edition (the later reprints don’t have publishers seal on the margin). Great impression, good color and registration. Signed by artist Hasui, has seal “Sui” in the image and titled in kanji at the right margin. Print has clean backside, just small residues of paper tape on top margin (see the pictures). Oban size 15 1/4″ x 10 1/4”.
