Description: “U-kai, Nagara-gawa” Fishermen has been using cormorant for fishing on Nagara River since 7th Century. The cormorant swallows small fish, which are attracted by the torch fire. The fisherman tugs the rope attached to the collar on the cormorant to prevent the fish go farther down the cormorant’s throat. Later, he makes the bird regurgitates the fish into his basket. ( This impression was printed in 1979 as the special commemorative edition for the first comprehensive Hasui catalogue by Narazaki published by Mainichi Newspaper.).
