Description: Geese in Snow Artist: Koson Format: O-tanzakuban tate-e: 14.25″ x 6.75″ Subject: Two white-fronted geese (Anser albifrons) in flight in a snow-covered landscape. Stalks of Bamboo frame the design on the left, imparting a sense of depth. The white-fronted Goose was among Koson’s favourite subject for prints; he produced over twenty-five prints of the bird. The original painting and trial print of this design are known. See ‘Crows, Cranes & Camellias’ #K11.11 page 174 Cat. 44 page 68. Publisher: Daikokuya Date: c. 1910 Condition: Fine colors. Minor creases, marks and flaws. Generally fine state of preservation. Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage and hand-applied gofun for some of the snow.
